 Beginning early to mid-September 2021, Allison will undergo a temporary change to the color used to produce this part number. Due to current industry supply constraints, a black paint will temporarily be used in substitution of the standard red paint used to coat the external shell of the filter. Please note you may receive a black spin-on filter. 

When servicing the Allison 1000 or Allison 2000 transmission on your GM vehicle, don’t forget about the external filter. This Allison Spin-On Filter is the correct OEM replacement for Allison 1000 and Allison 2000 transmissions. To keep your transmission healthy, MA recommends replacing the spin-on filter every 12,000 miles. When changing this filter, ensure that you clean and reuse the filter magnet that is sandwiched between the filter and the transmission. Oftentimes, this magnet will stick to the filter and be discarded by mistake. If yours has gone missing, we have replacement Allison filter magnets to purchase.

My transmission did not have a magnet when I removed the spin-on filter. Do I need one? 
Yes. All Allison 1000 and Allison 2000 transmissions were originally equipped with a magnet between the spin-on filter and the transmission from the factory. Even seasoned mechanics sometimes slip and discard the magnet with the filter.
