But, because the base fluid is petroleum, conventional fluids do not provide the thermal resistance of Duramax full synthetic transmission fluid - TranSynd. With extended use, petroleum-based fluids react to oxidation much faster and more detrimentally, overwhelming the effectiveness of the dispersants and detergents. The oil thickens and becomes more acidic. Mechanical stress leads to shear, resulting in permanent viscosity loss. Thinner oil means less lubrication.
